Inspired by the magnitude of vines growing on trees along the river in Beacon, New York, material studies were conducted to mimic and utilize their unique weaving patterns. These studies were then adapted to become part of a Performing Arts Center.. The art of weaving developed into a concept used throughout the entire design. The most notable ways it was expressed was with a dynamic facade and into the design of the floor plates, which weave if the building is viewed in section and connect performance spaces at different levels. The result of this design method, is a building which is not only performative by program but also by function to provide the guests with a full performance and experience throughout the building’s entirety.

**The Beacon Performing Arts Center was a developed in a semester long materiality studio.
